On Saturday (we never travel on weekends), November 1 we cruised to Isle of Hope marina where we stayed for several days to wait out high winds and rain! We continued south on Wednesday, November 5 with stops in Kilkenny, GA and Jekyll Island on Thursday, November 6.

On Friday, November 7 we cruised or breezed right through St. Andrew sound early in the morning; northbound this sound is always rocky-rolly because we are traveling through in the afternoon. As we continued south, we heard the Coast Guard calling vessels to warn them about the submarine that was being escorted up St. Mary's River or Cumberland sound. We were near the entrance to the river when we had to move out of the channel, and fortunately, there is deep water outside the channel, to make room for this submarine. If you click on the picture, you can see the long black shape above the water between two escort vessels. This has been the fourth submarine we have seen this year....one in Yorktown and two in Norfolk. We spent the night at a new marina for us in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Our next stops were in Palm Coast, New Smyrna, and Cocoa Village.

On Tuesday, November 11, we arrived in Vero Beach and were surprised to dock behind Moon River III, an Ocean Alexander 456 belonging to Toby and Joanne who we met on land at Phil and Aven's party in Aurora, NC. Also, George and Jackie on Sea Otter were docked there.

On Friday, November 14 the shuttle Endeavor was launched at Cape Canaveral, about 50 miles north of Vero. Two years ago we watched a night launch with cloudy skies; however, this time the skies were clear so I was determined to try to take pictures. Well, this is the best one of the lot -- not easy zooming, flipping to different setting, holding the camera still while it is capturing and then processing!!!

Remember, we never travel on weekends....On Saturday, November 15 we cruised down to Ft. Pierce City Marina, our home for awhile. The location is great with restaurants at either end of the basin, the small downtown with shops and more restaurants within blocks, and a Farmers Market and Craft Fair every Saturday morning in Marina Square. Our friends, Mary and Vince on Betty B, are docked across the waterway and we have spent time with them several times. The Ft. Pierce Yacht Club held a cookout our first evening and invited us to come down any Friday for beer/wine and appetizers.

On November 27, we had cocktails on the flybridge, when I asked Jim, "if the sun sets in the west, why is the east lit up with lavender, blue and pink skies". I think he thought I had lost it until he turned around and said, "get the camera so people believe you". So, here is one the pictures of the sun setting while facing EAST!

We are enjoying the warm shorts/t-shirts weather and continually refer to the wrong season -- summer. After checking the weather here versus Greer, we have concluded that our night temps are higher than the day temps in SC! We are thrilled.
