February was a fairly lazy month: both of us spent a lot of time reading but did manage to accomplish some chores and errands. The weather was gorgeous with warm, sunny days while South Carolina plunged in cold weather with snow and ice twice. We had a few very windy days...strong west winds with gusts in the 30s. Su drove around Florida visiting friends. Her first trip was south to visit Ray in Boynton Beach; Jane, her sister, in West Palm Beach; and Joanne in Delray Beach. Both friends just mentioned were from Connecticut days. On Saturday, February 22, the horses appeared once again in the Annual Cross State Ride of Old Florida Cracker Days. This event draws a lot of people making the Farmers Market extremely crowded. We walked around some of the horses after they pranced through town. Here are some pictures:
On Sunday, February 25, Su drove across the state to visit her friend, Marcia, who winters in Port Charlotte instead of staying in cold Maine. We spent several days relaxing by the pool and catching up on news of the past year. Then Su drove 10 miles to visit her friends, Nancy and Joe, and we aren't going to talk about how far back we go! Suffice it to say, Joe questions our maturity at times....On Friday, February 28, Su drove back to Fort Pierce in time for happy hour at the Tiki Bar and dinner at Cobb's Landing. A perfect ending to the month.
