We did have snow at the condo but only 2" not the 3-8" that was in the forecast! After doing doctors and taxes, we drove back to Daytona Beach on Thursday, March 12. Su drove over to Charlotte County to visit with her friends -- one from high school and the other from college. We aren't going to call them old friends just long friendships.
On Tuesday, March 31, Su and her sister flew to St. Louis to spend about ten days with their dad. Jim ended up going to SC to visit family in early April, so Alex went to the Pet Paradise Resort in Ormand Beach. He wasn't thrilled at having a vacation as he was required to get a distemper shot before he could check into the resort.
On Monday, April 13, the MTOA Rendezvous started at Halifax Harbor Marina with Jim working on the docking committee (60+ boats arrived over three days) and Su working in the Ships Store. Both of us earned little green turtle pins. We had a Biker Bash dinner in a huge tent -- that meant we were to dress like bikers. The next night was Baseball Night at the Jackie Robinson stadium where the Tortugas were to play the Stone Crabs, A-teams for the Cincinnati Reds and Tampa Bay Rays, respectively. Dinner was provided in a somewhat sheltered area while it poured rain off and on; the game was postponed. On Thursday, April 16, we attended the Awards Dinner at Halifax River Yacht Club -- food was delicious.
On Wednesday, April 22, we cruised to St. Augustine and on to Fernandina Beach the next day. The Boston Whaler was hauled when we arrived at Tiger Point Marina; however, Palmetto Moon had to wait for a higher tide and was hauled the next day. Yes, we painted the bottoms of both boats; yes, we gave both two coats; and yes, we were very exhausted from all the work. But.... they both looked really great before going back in the water.
