On Thursday, May 1, we continued cruising north with a stop in Port Royal where we had drinks and dinner with our friends, Terry and Kim, who live there. After that, we stopped in Charleston, Isle of Palms, and Georgetown. The anxiety of the northbound trip was over: we cruised through all the shallow places in Georgia and South Carolina at high tide without an incident. One day left to cruise -- arrived at Marina Grande Dunes at Myrtle Beach on Monday, May 5. On Wednesday, May 7, we drove down to Brunswick, GA to pick up Su's car; drove back to Myrtle Beach and returned the rental car. A long day...

And the reason for our early arrival in Myrtle Beach: the second weekend of May was the celebration of Steve and Terry's wedding that occurred in late December. On Friday, May 9, we gathered at Anchor Cafe here at the marina for drinks and appetizers along with many other guests. On Saturday, May 10, their reception was held at The Marina Inn with heavy hors d'oeuvres, musical entertainment, and plenty of photo snapping. It was a blast! On Sunday, May 11, we had a wonderful brunch with champagne at their home. We truly enjoyed celebrating with our friends!
On Thursday, May 16, Jim purchased a new toy; I mean boat.  It is a 16' Boston Whaler with 90 horsepower motor and trailer.  Su is not sure how that trailer will work behind Palmetto Moon...

Jim spent the next few days cleaning it up and we did cruise, or was it fly, down the Waterway one afternoon.  On Tuesday, May 22, we drove down to DNR on James Island to register the boat and motor.  Believe it or not, there are only two places in the state where you can register boats -- Columbia and James Island!!

On Wednesday, May 28, Su flew out of Myrtle Beach to St. Louis to spend a week with her parents and friends.  Jim stayed aboard and took care of Alex.

Since we are not cruising, the blog will not be published again until Palmetto Moon is heading south....
