On Sunday, December 4, we walked over to watch the Christmas road parade with loads of floats. Many of the participants threw candy canes and other bite-size wrapped candy out into the crowds watching. Fortunately, the judges are in the traffic circle right in front of where we stood so we had a prime spot to watch. It is difficult to single out only one picture; therefore we'll blog a few.

This gorgeous float won first place and looked the most professional of all the entries.

This is the back of the Tiki Taxi representing the chain of three restaurants in Fort Pierce. Two of them are at the marina -- Cobb's Landing in one corner and the Tiki Bar on the other corner facing Indian River Lagoon.

On Saturday, December 17, we sat on Palmetto Moon and watched the Christmas boat parade. This was a huge tugboat decorated with Santa hanging on the end of the large crane/davit.

This boat competed in the small power section of the boat parade. Since Ft. Pierce is a fishing city, the large blue fish hanging was appropriate.

Jim drove to South Carolina to spend Christmas with his family, and Su celebrated with her family at her sister's home in West Palm Beach. Alex enjoyed playing with a new mouse -- a present from Su's parents.

Most of December was filled with the usual -- having breakfast from the Farmers Market every Saturday followed by shopping for vegetables for the week, dining at local restaurants, and Su and Sue shopping and lunching every Wednesday.

New Year's Eve was celebrated with Su's sister, Jane, at a party held at Cobb's Landing for many of the marina guests. Needless to say, we didn't stay until midnight as that was way past Jim's witching hour. We returned to Palmetto Moon and Su and Jane drank champagne, played backgammon, gave attention to Alex, watched the ball drop in NYC, and fell into bed around 1 AM. It was a nice ending to 2011!
