On July 4, we cruised on M/V Hawkeye with Terry and Kim around Solomons Island and anchored in the Patuxent River to wait for the fireworks. As luck would have it, the Coast Guard cleared all the boats anchored in front of us and we ended up with the front row seat! Jim shot many pictures; however, this was one of the best.

On Wednesday, July 7, we celebrated our FIFTH anniversary of living/cruising on Palmetto Moon by dining at The Captain's Table. Many people didn't think we would cruise this long; however, Jim wants another five years!

We spent most of July trying to stay cool, and it was a real struggle for the a/c to keep up. The temps were in the 90s and many days the heat index was anywhere from 100 to 105. After socializing and relaxing with friends, we decided it was time to cruise north....maybe it would be cooler.

On Tuesday, July 26, we cruised to Rock Hall on the eastern shore of MD where we relaxed and wandered around the village. Unfortunately, the two museums weren't open; they open on Saturday and Sunday only. Terry and Kim came up on M/V Hawkeye and we dined with them at Waterman's Crab House and then Bay Wolf which was an Austrian/seafood restaurant and quite good.

On Saturday, July 31, we cruised further north and down the Sassafras River, which was lovely with nice houses and bright green manicured lawns and gorgeous flowering shrubs, to Georgetown Yacht Basin. This is a weekend boater's paradise with over 1200 slips at about seven marinas. The picture above was our view toward land: the small building on the left is the Hershey's Ice Cream Shop, the little building in the middle was in the swimming pool area, and the big house is the Kitty Knight House which is owned by the marina and is an inn and restaurant. We arrived on Customer Appreciation Day and were invited to join the boaters for their complimentary BBQ lunch with beer and wine. In the evening, we walked up to the Deck of the Kitty Knight house, listened to the band, ordered dinner, and took it back to Palmetto Moon to dine.
