September: Wind, more wind, Tropical Storm Hanna, strong NE winds

We spent the first days of September discussing the route Hanna would take and where to hide from her. On Friday, September 5, we cruised down the ICW to Atlantic Yacht Basin and pulled into a three-sided shed and hid from Tropical Storm Hanna. Fortunately, she was not a hurricane and traveled further west than expected. On Monday, September 8, we traveled down to Coinjock where we celebrated my birthday in the marina's restaurant with a 32 oz. prime rib steak! From there, we cruised across Albemarle Sound with 2' waves coming at our bow (forecast was 1') and stopped at Miss Wanda's; stayed there until the end of the week because the winds were blowing.

On Friday, September 12, we cruised for 10 hours and 10 minutes or 97.2 miles -- our longest day ever!! We arrived at the Oriental Marina as Sailcraft had no room for us. On Tuesday, September 16, we moved from the Marina to Sailcraft in the next creek where Jim worked diligently on his "to do" list. He got his chores done and we were ready leave; however, the NE winds started blowing in the 20-30 knot range with stronger gusts. We stayed another week and grew tired of the howling wind.

Saturday, September 27 was a perfect cruising day as we left Sailcraft and headed south. On Sunday, September 28, we were docked at Bridge Tender Marina in Wrightsville Beach, NC and our friends Jim and Sue of Water Dancer came to visit and dine at Dockside restaurant.

Our next stop was Southport and on Tuesday, September 30, we arrived at Marina Grande Dunes where Palmetto Moon will sit for several weeks. Jim, Alex and I will travel back to Greer for doctor/vet appointments and numerous errands. We all will look forward to our return to the boat where life is relaxing and less stressful!
