Unfortunately the cold weather trend continued into and throughout February. Jim's comment about the month was "there were five days above 65 degrees and two days that the wind didn't blow 15 mph or more; I put on shorts twice".

On Friday, February 5, our friends, Jim and Sue, joined us for dinner at JoJo's and Richard Nader's Doo Wop and Rock & Roll concert at the Sunrise Theater. The performers were fantastic and the memories of some of the songs came flooding back. The performers and song highlights were: Sonny Geraci of Climax and the Outsiders -- Precious & Few, Time Won't Let Me; Danny & The Juniors -- At the Hop, Rock 'n' Roll Is Here to Stay; The Chiffons (original lead singer with her daughter and niece as backup) -- One Fine Day, He's So Fine, Sweet Talkin' Guy; Jay Siegel and the Tokens -- The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Portrait of My Love, Tonight I Fell in Love; Jay Traynor of Jay & the Americans -- She Cried.

On Saturday, February 6, we watched the Mardi Gras Parade with our friends on M/V Shangri-La, Dave and Laurie, and Laurie's parents from cold Wisconsin. This parade was funky last year and didn't disappoint us this year. At the rate we're going, Su will have an entire drawer filled with beads!

On Sunday, February 7, we dined and watched the Superbowl at Jim and Sue's home in Vero Beach. Her chili was excellent; however, the best part of the day was that all of us were healthy and able to be in the same room together.

On Saturday, February 13, our friends, Larry and Sue, arrived by RV (their boat is currently winterized in DE). On Valentine's Day, Sue and Su toured the Manatee Center and A. E. Backus Museum & Gallery. The four of us had a wonderful dinner at Chuck's Seafood.

On Monday, February 15, the four of us toured the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum which was fascinating. Boats are on display outside and exhibits/films are shown inside. The boat used to rescue the Maersk ship in Somali last year was not there as it is in Norfolk on display until April.

On Tuesday, February 16, Jim and Su drove to Palm City to visit and dine with her high school friend, Chris and Jim. Fortunately, it was a warm day and we were able to sit outside and bask in the sun!

On Wednesday, February 17, Larry and Sue and Jim and Su drove up to Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Discovery Center. Their ship, pictured, had been in the Pacific Ocean last year searching for Amelia Earhart's plane. The producer of the movie had hired them to find it as he thought it would be a thrill to promote the plane and the movie opening; however, they did not find it.

The rest of February was spent going back and forth to JFK Medical Center in Lake Worth visiting Su's sister who was admitted with a blood clot in her leg following her injury in late January.

Just to add some numbers: on Friday, February 26, the high temp was 61 and the low 34 which tied the record low temp for that day!
