January was a month of catching up -- on rest and sleep as both of us battled head colds; on our reading as we didn't have much energy to do much else; and visiting with friends.
Su drove across the state to visit with friends and instead of relaxing by the pool or going to the beach, she wore sweat clothes most of the time. Meanwhile, Jim reported that Fort Pierce had a rain cell that wouldn't leave. The total rainfall was around 10" and Indian River Drive washed out south of us. The locals said they didn't get that much rain during the horrible 2004 hurricane season!! Schools and businesses were cancelled as the roads were flooded. Crazy weather....
The manatees returned to the marina when the days turned cool and the nights were cold. Cold meaning low 40s.
