We continued to encounter the big ships but fortunately they were headed into the Great Lakes. It is disconcerting to see these guys coming toward Palmetto Moon. We went through the Lower Bernharnois Lock, 42' drop; later entered the Canal de la Rive Sud that goes around the Lachine Rapids with the Saint Catherine Lock, 32' drop; and finally the Saint Lambert Lock, 18' drop. 8/11/06
