The Maryland State House, built in 1772, is the oldest state house in continuous legislative use in the U.S. Other bits of history: it was the first peacetime capital of the U.S. and George Washington resigned his commission as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army on December 23, 1783 in the Old Senate Chamber.
